Powering the Future of Smart Warehousing: DSP Electrical at THG Warrington

At DSP Electrical Contractors Ltd, we pride ourselves on delivering complex electrical installations in demanding environments. Over the past eight weeks, our team has been working on an exciting project at THG’s Warrington site, helping to prepare the facility for the next generation of smart warehouse robotics.

The project involved a comprehensive upgrade to the building’s electrical and data infrastructure to support a new automated robotics system supplied by Geek+. These advanced warehouse robots are designed to transform logistics operations by increasing efficiency, accuracy, and scalability within the fulfilment centre.

Working in a Live Operational Environment

One of the most challenging aspects of the project was completing all works within a fully operational warehouse. With THG’s logistics activities continuing around the clock, our team had to carefully plan and coordinate every stage of the installation to minimise disruption to day-to-day operations.

Through detailed planning, strict safety procedures, and close collaboration with the site management team, DSP Electrical successfully delivered the works while maintaining a safe and efficient environment for all personnel on site.

Scope of Works

Over the eight-week programme, our engineers completed a range of critical installations, including:

• Installation of new power supplies to support the robotic infrastructure
• Deployment of high-capacity data cabling and network infrastructure
• Installation of containment systems to support power and data distribution across the facility
• Integration works to support the new smart warehouse robotics system

Each element was designed and installed to ensure reliability, scalability, and long-term performance for the warehouse’s evolving technological needs.

Collaborating with Industry Leaders

DSP Electrical worked closely alongside the robotics specialists at Geek+ to ensure the electrical and data infrastructure was perfectly aligned with the requirements of the automated system. This collaborative approach ensured a smooth installation process and allowed both teams to work efficiently within the live operational environment.
