‍WAGAMAMA – Birmingham Airport

We were pleased to support the delivery of the new Wagamama restaurant at Birmingham Airport, completing the full electrical installation as part of the wider restaurant fit-out programme.

Our team delivered a comprehensive electrical package, including electrical distribution, general and small power, general and feature lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm works, PAVA systems and associated containment and cabling throughout the restaurant.

Working within a busy live airport environment brought additional requirements around security, access, permits, deliveries and coordination with airport operations. Our engineers worked closely with the project team, specialist contractors and Birmingham Airport representatives to ensure the electrical works progressed efficiently alongside the wider fit-out programme.

Particular attention was given to the coordination of the restaurant's electrical distribution and incoming supplies, together with the power requirements for kitchen and mechanical equipment. The lighting installation also formed an important part of the finished restaurant, helping to create the distinctive Wagamama environment while providing practical and effective illumination throughout the customer, kitchen and back-of-house areas.

Life-safety systems were another key element of the project, with fire alarm, emergency lighting and PAVA installations requiring careful coordination, testing, commissioning and final witnessing to meet the requirements of the airport environment.

As the project progressed towards completion, our team carried out the necessary electrical testing, commissioning and final checks, working closely with all parties through the final stages and handover process.

Delivering restaurant projects within operational airports requires careful planning, flexibility and strong coordination between multiple trades and stakeholders. Restricted working conditions and the additional requirements associated with an airport environment make programme management and communication particularly important.
